Cedarville 2010

Another great year at the Annelin's Cedarville cottage! We missed Mike (who was studing for his Internal Medicine Board Exam), as well as several new parents (Dunn's/Lumbrezers) and our CO friends (Pearsons), but had a great time!

First night at the Islander in Hessel

Boating on Saturday...there were 22 of us, and this was obviously the girls boat :)

We are already looking forward to next year!

A evening of boating with Aaron and Christine...

Aaron, our dear friend, and Mike's college roommate invited us out for a day of boating on Lake St. Claire. It was a beautiful night in the midst of a busy month in July, and we had a great time. I finally was able to meet Aaron's girlfriend Christine, who I adore. Can't wait for more fun times with you guys! We had a great picnic dinner, went swimming on a sandbar and practiced our frisbee and football skills :)

June Vacation Continued....up North

After the wedding, I headed up to TC for a week at the end of June... unfortunately Mike had to work, but joined us on Friday.

Christine and Todd's new place on Green Lake.

Fishing with Avery

We had a great time on a canoe trip on the Platte River. My mom and I were joined by all 4 Elsenheimer's (Christine, Todd, Aiden and Avery) and Jenna and Jayla (Christine and Todd's nieces). It was a beautiful day!

Mike and I went golfing at Bay Meadows-- my first time playing 18 holes!

More fishing on Green Lake

We topped this day off with a great dinner with my aunts and uncles, grandma and the whole Nichols/Elsenheimer/Howe crew...someone has a picture, but I don't have the copy....such a great week!

Emily and Bryan's Cape Cod Wedding, June 19th, 2010

During my June vacation, Mike and I headed out to Cape Cod for Emily Whitfield and Bryan Lin's Wedding Day! It was a wonderful weekend and we had a great time exploring Cape Cod.

First we headed to Westbrook, CT to see Mike's parents...and pick up his Dad's boxster for the weekend! (Lucky us!!)

Rehearsal Dinner....with Cape Cod lobster, yum!

Beautiful Bride!

Before we headed home, we enjoyed some more time with the in-laws :)

Great trip, and all the best to our wonderful friends, Emily and Bryan!

Fellowship match

The last two months have been crazy, so I figured my first post on our blog would be to share that Laura and I have both matched for subspecialty fellowship at U of M! Laura matched here for her Allergy fellowship around a month ago, and last week I found out that I would be staying as well for my Cardiology fellowship. It was another crazy match process, and leaving it up to a computer to decide our individual fates is starting to get a bit old. Thankfully, after residency and now fellowship, this was the last match we are going to have to deal with, and we're thrilled that we get to stay in Ann Arbor for at least another 4-5 years. We've now officially started the house-hunting process, and there will hopefully be some exciting new developments on that front in the next few weeks as well.

Laura's 29th Birthday

For my 29th Birthday, Mike arranged to have dinner with 18 of our dear Ann Arbor friends at one of our favorite restaurants in AA, Pacific Rim! We had a great time! It is sad to think so many of these friends our leaving town in a couple months after finishing residency. Fortunately many are staying around for fellowship next year!

The interview trail took us to Vail...

As many of you know, we spend much of February-April interviewing. I just finished my 11th interview, and Mike still has 3 more to finish off his 15. We were lucky to make a mini-vacation out of one of our interviews, Denver, CO, and spent the weekend in Frisco/Vail with Libby and Jeremy, Mackenzie, and Annie! We arrived Friday night, drove to Frisco, skied Vail with Mackenzie (and her TC friend Libby), spent Saturday evening with Libby and Jeremy, Mackenzie and Libby, and Steve Howe (who flew in for the weekend too) at Kemosabe, an excellent sushi restaurant in Frisco. Mike and I stayed up late and caught up with Lib and Jer, such great times! The next day, we headed to The Butterhorn for brunch with Lib and Jer before heading back down to Denver.

We were so lucky to meet up with dear friends from the Cottage, Amy (Goetz) and Justin Rzepka, and ski a few runs with them. It was also fun to see Amy's sister Laura for a few minutes. Such a small world, we had no idea we would both be at Vail the same day!

We finished off the weekend exploring Denver in 60 degree weather! It was great and so relaxing. We were also able to meet up with dear friends Annie and Lindsey (past graduates of U of M med-peds and peds residency) who are now fellows at U of Colorado/Denver Children's. Thank you so much Annie for hosting us! I wish we had pictures to document our visit with them. The interviews went well for both Mike and I, and we headed home.

Over the course of our interviews, we will have traveled to Detroit, Royal Oak, Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, Cleveland, Columbus, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Rochester (NY), and Denver. We are exhausted, and so ready for a break, and to find our where we will be going for fellowship. Match day is May 19th for Laura and June 16th for Mike. Wish us luck!
