Kauai

Mike and I went on a wonderful vacation to Kauai this last week. All the pictures we took inspired me to update my blog, as it has been way too long! We were there for a week and would have loved to stay longer!

Drive up Waimea Canyon

The start of our awesome 13.3 mile hike! We enjoyed the Nu'alolo Trail to the Nu'alolo Cliff Trail then to Awa-'awapuhi Trail including both beautiful outlooks....for anyone up for a serious hike, we would totally recommend it. It took us almost 6 hours!

Lolo vista is that red rock outcropping in the top left....

Mountain goat, so cute! Do you see him?

View of the Na Pali coast from Lolo vista

Nu'alolo Valley

Awa-'awapuhi Valley

Kalalau Valley

Wonderful catamaran tour of the Na Pali Coast aboard the Southern Star.
We saw tons of whales....

Spinner dolphins

Waterfalls

One of our favorite dinners at the Beach House

Crazy to think we had hiked here a few days before...

The stunning Na Pali Coast

Wai'ale'ale Crater....we flew in and were surrounded by waterfalls!

Ke'e Beach

Night out in Po'ipu....

The next day we decided to hike some of the trail along the Na Pali Coast from the North Side of the Island, the trail is called the Kalalau Trail. We decided to go 2 miles in...(it is an 11 mile trail in total, 22 round trip, someday we want to come back and do the whole hike and camp at the beach at the end).

Ke'e beach from the Kalalau Trail.

Beatuiful vistas for the whole hike!

Hanakapi'ai Beach, where we stopped to eat our packed lunch before heading back...

We loved our hotel, would recommend it to anyone who wants a small boutique feel! We had an amazing dinner there the night we left at the hotel restaurant, Red Salt....so yummy!

So fun to meet up with newlyweds, Nicole and Kelly. Nicole is a friend of ours from Medical School. It was so fun to see them....it had been 4 years....and we overlapped at Koa Kea for our last night. Drinks at Keoki's Paradise.

I really enjoyed the new Kindle....especially on our last day when we relaxed at the pool all day for the first time on the trip! It was a very active vacation, but we feel like we really got to
see Kaua'i.

Here's to hoping we make it back for another visit to Kaua'i someday!

Get away to Glen Arbor....

Mike and I took a get away to the Homestead in Glen Arbor, Mi, where we had our wedding reception, and mini-honeymoon. It was great to be back and to get away together!

Dinner at Blu....

The cocktail hour area looked a bit snowy when we were there :)

2 days of skiing free each, courtesy of my filling out a past bride survey which took 10 minutes :) Well worth it!

We went on a BEAUTIFUL 4 mile snowshoe through Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive at the Sleeping Bear Sand dunes.

Swirls of sand and snow looked like a Latte to me!

Glen Haven

Dinner at La Becasse

The rest of our weekend included several great trips to Arts....and we topped off the weekend with dinner with my parents in TC on the way out of town.

It was so fun to experience Glen Arbor in the winter!

Isabelle Wynn Hall has arrived....

This is an adorable picture of Isabelle, at 1 month, that Katie passed along via her blog.

Born on February 22nd, she has been winning over everyone she meets! Congrats to some of our best friends, Katie and Brian Hall!

We can't wait to meet you Isabelle!

Mollie and Chad's Mather's baby has arrived....

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from Mollie's shower, which was the day before Katie's, because I forgot my camera!

A few weeks later, our dear friends Mollie and Chad welcomed
Elizabeth "Ellie" Grace Mather to the world.

Welcome to the world little Ellie!

Though the sex of the baby was not know at the time of the shower, she is a GIRL!!

Welcome to the world Isabelle Wynn Hall, the Howe's can't wait to meet you!

Todd and Mike's adventures in snowmobiling

While the ladies were at baby showers all weekend, Mike and our brother-in-law, Todd made the best of their time :)

Need I say more? Looks like it was a beautiful day!

New Years Eve

For NYE this year, we had another low key evening, given that we all pretty much had to work the next day. Those of us assigned to work the 5 days over New Years still made the best of it :) We had a great game night at our house, playing the famed, "Telephone Pictionary."

It was so fun to have Pete in town for a visit from Columbus!

Shreya and Laura

Kunjali and Alicia

Happy NYE 2010!

New York City: December 26, 2010

The day after Christmas, the Howe's headed to NYC to explore....
We took the train and it was super easy to get there from CT.
First stop: Rockefeller Center to ice skate...

Then we did some shopping followed by a warm up at a cute pub.

It was the same day the huge blizzard hit NYC. Thankfully we got out safely by train (but had to skip out on dinner in NYC). We were also fortunate to get out of CT without delays back to work on time....
Can't wait to go back. My first trip to NYC was definitely a success, but would love to go back when it is warmer someday :)
