Kate- 8 months old!

Age 8 months
Weight & Length Kate weighs 17+ lbs
Clothing size 6-12 month clothes.
Hair  Very light brown
Teeth Still no sign of teeth!
Sleeping  Kate goes to be most nights around 8 pm and sleeps until about 7:30.  She usually eats around 11 pm and one other time overnight (3am or so).  Kate now usually only takes 2 naps per day- one around 9 am and another around 1:00 pm.
Eating  Kate continues to nurse every 3 hours during the day. Kate really enjoys feeding herself anything- but loves puffs and baby mum mums.  She also enjoys lots of different purees. She has tasted pancakes, ice cream, eggs, and salmon and is learning to explore different textures.
Movement   Kate is trying so hard to crawl.  She can lift herself up and push herself backwards, but no crawling yet.
Milestones  Kate started pulling up on everything in sight just before 8 months.
Favorite toys/activities     Kate is very interested in playing with many different toys. She loves anything she can put in her mouth.  She loves water bottles and legos, but also rattles, activity cubes, and other soft toys.  She is particularly interesting in watching Jackson and trying to share her big brother’s toys.
Dislikes   Kate still likes to eat over night.  We are hoping she starts sleeping through the night without waking to eat soon. We are considering
Words & sounds   Kate has started to say ma, ba and da. She loves to babble. She also still loves to giggle!
What we love   Kate is such a happy baby.  We feel so lucky!
What we don’t love Night waking. Hoping this ends soon, either on her terms or with some sleep training.
What we’re looking forward to next month   Crawling- she is so close, we have a feeling she will learn this skill in the next month.

Kate- 7 months old!

Age 7 months
Weight & Length Kate weighs 16+ lbs
Clothing size 6-12 month clothes.
Hair  Light brown and not long enough for clips or pony tails yet!
Teeth Still no teeth- we can’t believe it!
Sleeping  Kate goes to be most nights around 8 pm and sleeps until about 7:30.  She usually eats around 11 pm and one other time overnight (3am or so).  She was taking 3 naps a day but seems to be transitioning to 2 naps/day on some days around 7 months.
Eating  Kate continues to nurse every 2.5-3 hours during the day. Kate really enjoys feeding herself baby mum mums and enjoys lots of different purees. She likes very ripe smashed bananas and occasionally likes to chew on pizza crust or hard bread.
Movement   Kate is starting to lift up her tummy when on her belly, and spins in circles on our wood floor and scoots around but no crawling yet.
Milestones  Kate started sitting up well around 7 months. She loves her new perspective!
Favorite toys/activities     Kate is very interested in her new toys- her learning walker and activity cube. She also loves to play with anything she can chew on, and pop and pull toys.

Words & sounds   Kate loves to giggle.  She also likes to squeal and chat with anyone.
What we love   Kate is such a smiley girl.  We feel so blessed to have another very happy baby!
What we don’t love Hoping she will start to sleep longer stretches at night, but when she wakes up she continues to go back to sleep almost immediately after eating.
What we’re looking forward to next month   Crawling and pulling up over the next few months.

Kate- 6 months old!

Age 6 months
Weight & Length Kate weighs 15 lbs 12.6 oz (43%) and 26.4 inches (70%).   Her head circumference is at the 61%.
Clothing size She is definitely moving into 6-12 month clothes. She can still fit into several of her 3-6 month outfits as well.
Hair  Her hair continues to lighten up and grow, but not long enough for any hair ties yet!
Teeth Zero! We feel like she could get one any day but still no sign of a tooth yet! Lots of chewing though!
Sleeping  Kate continues to sleep from 7:30 pm to 7:00 am most nights. She usually wakes to eat (or dream feeds) at 10:30 or 11, and then again eats between 3-5, but occasionally gets up one more time before 7 am. Hoping she starts to sleep longer stretches again soon!
Eating  Kate continues to nurse every 2.5 hours during the day.  She ate her first food- oatmeal cereal, the day before she turned 6 months. She is not really sure what she thinks. She also followed that up with sweet potatoes and bananas. So far she likes bananas the best!
Movement   Kate is very interested in moving all over. She rolls back and forth like crazy. She also loves to jump in her jumper and she can really get going.
Milestones  Kate is starting to sit up, and can do so with her hand forward propping herself up, or for a few seconds unsupported. She is getting better at it every day!
Favorite toys/activities     She loves anything she can chew on. She is also very excited to play with a new spinning toy that she can attach to her high chair. It gives her something to keep her interested and allows her to join us at the table and still be able to play.  She loves anything that crinkles.  She also has gone on some runs with Mommy, Daddy and Jackson in both the BOB and the Chariot while Mom and Dad prepared for their half marathon!
Dislikes   Kate still loves to eat over night. Interestingly she wakes up a lot more now than she did when she was younger. Hoping this slows down soon!
Words & sounds   Kate continues to be very chatty.   No specific sounds yet but she always talks back to you when you talk to her.  She loves to giggle as well.  She has the cutest laugh!
What we love   Kate continues to be so happy.  Many of our friends and family ask, is she always this happy? The answer is YES! We are very lucky!  She also is so sweet when we put her to bed or down for naps, and just snuggles up and cuddles with us.  It is a very special time with her.
What we don’t love Hoping she will start to sleep longer stretches at night, but at least when she wakes up she goes back to sleep quickly.
What we’re looking forward to next month   Working on sitting up, pulling up and continuing to explore the world around her! We are also looking forward to hearing more sounds!

Family vacation to Destin

We had a wonderful vacation to Destin, Fl in mid April.  We were joined by the Rohn-Dave family, which made it that much more fun for us and for Jackson, who loved playing with his buddy Cameron! The week was filled with lots of time at the beach, pool, and wonderful memories!
