Kauai

Mike and I went on a wonderful vacation to Kauai this last week. All the pictures we took inspired me to update my blog, as it has been way too long! We were there for a week and would have loved to stay longer!

First day, the beach at our hotel

Our adorable little boutique hotel, Koa Kea!

Drive up Waimea Canyon

The start of our awesome 13.3 mile hike! We enjoyed the Nu'alolo Trail to the Nu'alolo Cliff Trail then to Awa-'awapuhi Trail including both beautiful outlooks....for anyone up for a serious hike, we would totally recommend it. It took us almost 6 hours!

Lolo vista is that red rock outcropping in the top left....

Mountain goat, so cute! Do you see him?

View of the Na Pali coast from Lolo vista

Nu'alolo Valley

Crazy to think we had hiked here a few days before...

The stunning Na Pali Coast

Wai'ale'ale Crater....we flew in and were surrounded by waterfalls!

Ke'e Beach

Night out in Po'ipu....

The next day we decided to hike some of the trail along the Na Pali Coast from the North Side of the Island, the trail is called the Kalalau Trail. We decided to go 2 miles in...(it is an 11 mile trail in total, 22 round trip, someday we want to come back and do the whole hike and camp at the beach at the end).

Ke'e beach from the Kalalau Trail.

Beatuiful vistas for the whole hike!

Hanakapi'ai Beach, where we stopped to eat our packed lunch before heading back...

We loved our hotel, would recommend it to anyone who wants a small boutique feel! We had an amazing dinner there the night we left at the hotel restaurant, Red Salt....so yummy!

So fun to meet up with newlyweds, Nicole and Kelly. Nicole is a friend of ours from Medical School. It was so fun to see them....it had been 4 years....and we overlapped at Koa Kea for our last night. Drinks at Keoki's Paradise.

I really enjoyed the new Kindle....especially on our last day when we relaxed at the pool all day for the first time on the trip! It was a very active vacation, but we feel like we really got to
see Kaua'i.

Here's to hoping we make it back for another visit to Kaua'i someday!
