Miles- 2 months old

Age 2 months

Weight & Length Miles weighed  in at 11 lbs 10 oz (42%) and was 23.25 inches (69%) long!  

Clothing size 0-3 months, though I have several 3-6 month pieces in the wash getting them ready :)  

Hair  Light brown hair that seems to look a lot like his big sisters at this age!

Teeth Zero

Sleeping  Miles is usually a pretty good sleeper. He got his first cold right around 2 months so had a brief regression, but in general he usually goes to be early- around 7:30-8 pm, and I wake him up for a dream feed before I go to bed (sometime between 10:30-11:30). Then he usually wakes up around 3:00 and again at 6:30.  Previously Miles would sleep til 7:30, but now some days he likes to get up for the day by 6:45.   He slept his first 2 months in the Uppa Baby Bassinet in our room, and we just transitioned to the pack and play at 2 months because he was getting so long in the bassinet.  Around 5-6 weeks of age we started a bit of a bedtime routine with sound machine and sleeping in his crib.  When I wake him up to feed him before bed, he moves down to our room for the remainder of the night (as to not wake his siblings overnight). 

Eating  Miles likes to eat around every 2-2.5 hours during the day. Nursing is going pretty well.  He occasionally eats more frequently which I don't mind if it helps him sleep longer at night.  He is fast at nursing, just like his siblings, and is starting to get distracted by his surroundings.    

Movement   Miles loves to lay on his play mat and kick his legs- he will do this for quite a long time.  We are starting to fore tummy time a bit more but he doesn't love it. He also likes to sit in his bouncer for the first time and bat at the toy bar- maybe only for 10 minutes max but he likes it more now. 

Milestones  Miles is a super smiley baby just like his siblings.  He is generally very happy unless he is tired or hungry.  The nighttime fussiness seems to be much less now.   He also has started cooing and mimicking noises we make and Jackson and Kate love hearing Miles start to talk! 

Favorite toys/activities   Miles is happiest in mommy's arms or laying on her chest. He also loves his activity mat and especially the black and white mobile. 

Dislikes   Miles doesn’t love tummy time, but is more tolerant of it. He doesn't love the bottle yet but we are working hard on it this month getting him ready for mommy to go back to work. 

Words & sounds   Miles loves to impress his siblings with sounds he can make.  He loves to coo at us, and is especially good at saying Oooo and Ohhhh.  

What we love   How cuddly Miles is.  He is happiest in our arms. 

What we don’t love  Teaching Miles to get used to the bottle hasn't been as easy as his siblings, but we are working on it and hoping the transition back to work goes smoothly. 

What we’re looking forward to next month   We can't wait to watch him interact more with us and his siblings.  We will continue to watch and see if he will roll over early like his siblings did! 

Miles William- 1 month

Age 1 month

Weight & Length Miles weighed 10 lbs 3 oz (54%) at his one month check up. His length was 22.5 inches (90%) at 1 month too.  

Clothing size  He has just grown out of newborn and is starting to use 0-3 month clothes. We have even put him in a few of Jackson's old outfits. 

Hair Miles has dark hair just like Kate! We are all placing bets on if he will lose the dark hair and ultimately be a toe head like his siblings.

Teeth Zero

Sleeping  Miles usually sleeps for 3 hour stretches at night- if I am lucky I might get one 4 or 4.5 hour stretch every few days.  He takes mostly catnaps during the day but usually has 2 unpredictable good 1 hour naps.  He usually gets up around 7:30 am but usually will go back to bed  by 8:30 am, right when the big kids head off to school.  

Eating  Miles is doing well with eating! He is was a big time cluster feeder until about 1 month but that finally has slowed down some.   He eats every 2-2.5 hours during the day and every 3 hours or so overnight.   

Movement   Miles is starting to like his activity mat and will look at a mobile for 10 minutes or so until he has had enough.  He tolerates the bouncer but hasn't figured out how to hit the toys yet.  He likes the Rock and Play best of all and is happy sitting in the kitchen listening to his big siblings chat.  He has started to smile but not always in response to others.  He focuses intensely on mommy and daddy's face.  He also has spent some quality time with Grandma Nichols and can recognize her too.  He is starting to tracking objects. He does not like tummy time at all yet! 

Milestones  First smiles are so cute- can't wait to see even more of them! 

Favorite toys/activities   Miles is intrigued by black and white objects- he likes the mobile on his play mat the best of all.  He also likes the bird sound. He hasn't started grabbing onto any toys yet.   

Dislikes  Mommy would love a little longer sleep stretches, but we have been putting Miles to sleep only on flat spaces, so I think this might play a role (We opted not to  use the rock and play overnight).  

Words & sounds  Miles is very vocal. He is happy to tell you anytime he is hungry, wet, tired, or has lost his paci!

What we love  Watching Miles interact with his siblings is just the best- they love him so and we feel so blessed to watch the three of them together.  He is generally sweet, cuddly and a loving little boy!

What we don’t love  Waking up at night but he is great at going back to bed quickly after he eats- Yay Miles.

What we’re looking forward to next month   Smiling, cooing and watching him start to enjoy the world around him even more. So far Miles has dark blue eyes that look a lot like Mommy and Kates.  We are  anxious to see if they lighten up or stay dark blue!

Clothing size 18-24 month and some 2T

Hair  Blonde

Teeth 16

Sleeping  Kate is a great sleeper- is a night owl though! She likes to go to bed at 9ish even though we start the process before 8.  Loves to read books before bed.

Eating   Kate is taking after her big brother and is a picky eater.  She is a very independent eater as well! She eats school lunch but some days she loves it and others she won't touch it.

Movement   Kate is running and jumping with 2 feet. She is practicing standing on one food! She can climb on anything. 

Milestones  Her speech has been the most impressive this last six months. She also crawled out of her crib at 21 months so has been in a converted toddler bed since then! Big girl! 

Favorite toys/activities   Hands down she loves her baby doll most! She loves feeding her and sleeps with her every night. She also loves her new play kitchen  

Dislikes   Toddler temper tantrums and bedtime delay techniques- she is a master of this!

Language Kate's speech is exploding! She loves to chat with us and speaks very clearly. She often uses 4-5 word sentences or more! 

What we love  Watching our baby become a little girl!

What we don’t love  Our abby is growing up too fast!

Kate's 1st Birthday Party!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Kate's 1st birthday with family and a few friends at Kate's birthday brunch. Mommy enjoyed planning the Twinkle Twinkle, Little Start themed party!
