Jackson is ONE!

Age 12 months
Weight & Length 31 inches, 21 lbs 6 oz
Clothing size  Mostly 6-12 months, but starting to wear some 12-18 month clothes
Hair Blonde- and getting longer- going to need a cut if it since it is starting to get in his eyes!
Teeth  8 with at least 2 molars that will be popping through any day!
Sleeping  Jackson sleeps from 7:00-8:00 pm until around 6:00-6:45 am when he wakes up and nurses and often goes back to bed until 7:30 or 8 for the last month.  This has been a great routine for us while Mommy was studying for boards but we are both going to have to start waking up earlier soon!  He is rarely if ever waking up at night and has become a great self soother.  He falls asleep very easily on his own with minimal fussing and sometimes sings himself to sleep.  He naps twice a day but is starting to fight the PM naps, so he may end up napping only once a day soon.
Eating  Jackson has continued to explore lots of new foods.  He loves trying to use a fork and a spoon at 12.5 months but is working on his proficiency at actually eating with them.  He is still nursing once a day in the morning, and has started taking whole milk very well. We also have stopped heating his bottles and he has done well with that too! He takes bottles at 10:30 am, 2:30 pm and at 7 pm before bed.
Movement  Jackson is pulling up on everything.  Just after turning 12 months, he started walking everywhere with his learning walker and his new Wheely-Bug Bumble Bee.  He loves to move about and is really fast.  He also has learned to stand by himself for a few seconds at a time (around 12.5 months).
Milestones The biggest milestone of the month was learning to sleep and after a week of sleep training, he is a champ.  He is so cute at bedtime and sometimes smiles and waves bye bye to us as we leave his room after tucking him in.
Favorite toys/activities  He loves his new Cozy Coupe, Anywhere chair and radio flyer wagon- all first birthday gifts.  He continues to be very interested in reading, and will sit in his new chair and read books independently which is so adorable.
Dislikes  Honestly, now that sleep training is over and he is sleeping great, we can’t complain!
Words & sounds Lots of babbles.  He says mama and dada a lot, when we are in the room but not predictably to us or with prompting.  He is very vocal and often says “ooh ooh ooh” when he really is excited or wants something.
What we love  Being his parents.
What we don’t love  We love it all!
What we’re looking forward to next month  Walking and real words!

Happy First Birthday to the sweetest little boy in the world (b-day party pics to come in a future post).
